When’s the best time of day to do a photo shoot?

I get asked this all the time: When’s the best time of day to do a photo shoot?

The truth is, it depends on the look you want. For London’s senior session, we shot in the morning, and the light was absolutely beautiful — soft, flattering, and perfect for that clean, timeless style I love.

Morning light gives that soft, natural glow without harsh shadows, which is great if you want your photos to feel bright and fresh. It’s also quieter and less crowded, which helps seniors feel more comfortable during their session.

Evening sessions, especially during golden hour, have a totally different energy. The tones are warm, the light is dreamy, and the photos have a little extra magic to them. Both can be gorgeous — it’s just about what fits your personality and the story you want your photos to tell.

My goal with every session is to help you feel confident and comfortable while capturing photos that truly feel like you. Whether it’s morning light or golden hour, the best time for your shoot is the one that fits your personality and vision.

If you’re ready to plan your senior session, I photograph seniors across Eagle, Boise, Meridian, and Star.
