Most seniors who contact me start with the same sentence: "I'm really bad at pictures."

I hear it so often that I've stopped treating it as a warning. It's where the work begins. I'm Jen, the photographer behind Forever My Media, and senior portraits are what I do most. I photograph seniors in Boise and Eagle, and this page is my attempt to explain what that's like, so you can decide if I'm the right person for your senior or for you.

Why I focus on seniors

Senior year is strange. Everything is ending and everything is about to start, and the person in the middle of it is still working out who they are. Most seniors I meet are a little nervous, a little tired of being asked about the future, and quietly proud of how far they've come.

I like being the person who slows that down for an hour or two. Nothing else in the year is set aside just to look at them.

What happens when you feel awkward

You will probably feel awkward at the start. That's normal, and it's not something you need to fix before you show up.

I do the guiding. I'll tell you where to stand, where to look, and what to do with your hands, and I'll tell you when something is working so you're not left wondering. We take as much time as we need, and nobody watches a clock. Most seniors relax somewhere in the first few minutes, usually right after they realize I'm not expecting them to know what they're doing.

Sessions built around you

I don't run every senior through the same routine. Before we shoot, we talk about what you like, how you dress, and what you want your photos to feel like, and I plan from there. A senior who wants something simple and quiet gets a different session than one who wants to go all out.

Where we shoot

There's no set list of locations, because I plan around what you're looking for. If you love flowers, we can go to a local farm in the summer. If you want the water, we might head to the Boise River or walk the Greenbelt. Some seniors prefer a family farm or their own family home, where they feel most like themselves.

What my photos look like

My photos are sharp, clear, and bright. I shoot in the morning, at midday, and at golden hour, depending on the senior and the look we're going for. I'm comfortable in strong midday sun, and I often place the sun behind you, which puts a soft glow around your hair and shoulders while keeping your face clear.

For parents

If you're reading this for your senior, I know how quickly this year moves, and I know you probably want these photos to be something you're glad you have in ten years. I'll be honest with you about how the session goes, and you're welcome to ask me anything beforehand.

I offer three senior packages. They range from one location to two, and from 15 to 50 photos, depending on what you want. You'll find each package with pricing on my [packages page].

Questions I hear a lot

What if I'm not photogenic?
Almost every senior feels that way going in. It's my job to guide you, so you don't have to figure it out yourself.

Can we choose the location?
Yes. A farm, the river, the Greenbelt, or your family's home are all options. We'll decide together based on you.

How many photos will I get?
Anywhere from 15 to 50, depending on your package.

How much does it cost?

Can I ask questions before booking?
